3. What is Passive Element?
Element which is incapable of generating power but has the ability to store, dissipate or release the power is called passive elements. Resistors, capacitors, Diodes are example for passive elements

4. What is Active Element?
Element which is capable of generating power is called passive elements. Transistors, oscillators, integrated circuits are example for active elements

5.  What is Active Network?
Network which acts as a source (EMF)or provide energy to the circuit is called Active Network

6. What is Passive Network?
Network which does not consists of any source (EMF)or do not  provide energy to the circuit is called Passive Network

7. What is Bilateral Circuit?
Circuits whose characteristics and behavior are  independent of  current direction flowing through various elements present in it is called Bilateral Circuit. It allows the current to flow in both the direction. A circuit consists of only resistors is the best example of Bilateral circuit

8. What is Unilateral Circuit?
Circuits whose characteristics and behavior are dependent of  current direction flowing through various elements present in it is called Unilateral Circuit. It allows the current to flow in only one direction. A circuit consists of diode is the best example ofUnilateral circuit

9. What are the basic property of Electric Circuit?
  • A circuit should always be a closed path.
  • A circuit should always contains an energy source which acts as a source of electrons
  • Direction of flow of conventional current should be from positive to negative terminal
  • The electric elements should include uncontrolled and controlled source of energy, resistors, capacitors, inductors, etc
  •  Flow of current should lead to potential drop across the various elements
  •  In an electric circuit flow of electrons takes place from the negative terminal to the positive terminal
10. What are the components should present in electric circuit?
  • Electrical Source (for providing power)
  • Controlling Devices(such as switch, Circuit breaker)
  • Protecting Devices( fuses, MCBs)
  • Conducting path (wires or connectors)
  • Load
11.  What is open circuit?
Open circuit is disconnected part of any circuit which do not have any current flow in it

12. What is Closed Circuit?
Closed circuit is one which do not have any discontinuity and have a continuous current flow in it

13. What is Series circuit?
Circuit in which the elements are connected one by one in series to provide path to the current flow is called as series circuit. In this Current flows through all elements is same where voltage across each element is different

14. What is Parallel circuit?
Circuit in which the elements are connected in parallel such that the voltage drop across element is same. In this Current flows through all elements is different where voltage across each element is same

15. What is Node?
A Node is a point in a circuit in which two or  more circuit elements are connected together. Elements may be active or passive. It is like a junction point in a circuit.

16. What is Branch?
Branch is a part of network that lies between two nodes

17. What is Loop?
Loop is a closed path in a circuit in which no element or node is encountered more than once

18. What is mesh?
Mesh is a loop which do not contain any other loop in it

19. What is the fundamental theorem of network topology?
A network with b branches, n nodes, and l independent loops will satisfy the fundamental theorem of network topology
                                                b = l + n – 1
where, b - number of branches
           n - number of nodes

20. What is Ohm's law?
At steady temperature the potential difference across the conductor is directly proportional to the current flowing through it.
                                               V = IR

EEE Interview Questions-1

Here are some of the basic questions asked in interviews for EEE students 1. what is the principle of motor?       The electric motor is based on the principle that whenever a current carrying conductor is placed in an magnetic field it experiences a mechanical force i.e turning or twisting movement is called as torque. 2. what is the principle of generator?   The electric generator is based on the principle of faraday's law of electromagnetic induction. Such that whenever a current carrying conductor is placed in an varying magnetic field it induces an emf in it. 3. what are the types of DC motor? Series motor Shunt motor Compound motor Permanent magnet DC motor 4. What are the types of AC motor? Synchronous motor Asynchronous motor 5. What is Synchronous motor?       Synchronous motor is a kind of AC motor where the rotation of the shaft is synchronized with the frequency of the supply current at steady ...

Synchronous Condensor

Synchronous Condensor: In electrical engineering, it is considered as a borderline between a motor and generator with no mechanical load  In other words, it is a DC excited synchronous motor whose shaft is connected to nothing It can compensate either lagging or leading power factor by supplying or absorbing reactive power from the line It is also called as synchronous Condensor or synchronous compensator Working: Kinetic energy stored in motor of machine will help to stable a power system during rapid fluctuations of load  It involves three conditions based on power factor: Under Excitation   Unity or Ideal  Over Excitation  Under excitation: In under excited condition, the machine will operate at lagging power factor  It draws lagging current from the supply line  Lagging power factor can be corrected by supplying reactive power   Reactive power drawn from capacitor bank decreases when grid Voltage decrea...
